Why we're allowed to use your data

UK data protection law (the UK GDPR) says we need a lawful reason for each use of your information. Ours are:

Where your data goes

We keep data in the UK wherever we can. Some services we use may process data outside the UK. When that happens, it's protected by the UK's approved safeguards for international transfers. Each app section below lists the services that app uses.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

To use any of these rights, email [email protected]. It's free, and we'll reply within one month. Many of our apps also let you export or delete your data yourself.

Children

Our apps and this website aren't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has given us their details, email us and we'll delete them.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we use your information, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll also tell you in the app concerned.

Contact and complaints

Questions or concerns? Email [email protected] and we'll do our best to put things right.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.

APP

Fuelnauts

Fuelnauts is a fitness and nutrition app. It helps you hit daily goals for calories, protein and workouts, keep a streak, and grow a sidekick. Here is exactly what it uses and why.

What we collect

  • About you:
    • Your first name, if you give one.
    • Your sex, age, height and weight, used only to work out your calorie and protein targets.
    • Your goal (lose, maintain or gain), how fast you want to go, your training days, where you train, and your experience level.
  • What you log:
    • Meals and drinks with their calories, protein, carbs and fat, and your favourites.
    • Workouts, sets and weights lifted, weigh-ins, water, and vitamins taken.
  • Your progress: your streak, freezes, tiers, badges, your sidekick and the settings you choose.
  • From Apple Health (optional): your workouts, if you choose to connect it (see below).
  • Your account (optional):
    • Your email address, if you choose to save your account with one.
    • Otherwise an anonymous account ID, so your backup works without any personal details.
  • Meal photos and typed descriptions: only when you choose to use the AI meal logging (see below).

Health information

Some of this, such as your weight, what you eat and your workouts, counts as health information under UK GDPR. We only use it to run the app for you, and only with the consent you give when you set up the app. You can withdraw that consent at any time by disconnecting Apple Health or deleting your account (see below). We never use your health information for advertising or marketing, and we never sell it or share it with data brokers.

Apple Health

If you choose to connect Apple Health, Fuelnauts reads only the information you allow, which is your workouts (type, date and duration), so a workout from any app or your Apple Watch counts towards your daily goal. Workouts it counts are saved with your progress so your streak is right on a new phone. Fuelnauts never writes to Apple Health without asking. Information from Apple Health is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, never sent to our AI provider, and never shared with anyone except as needed to run the app for you. You can turn access off at any time in your iPhone's Settings › Health › Data Access & Devices › Fuelnauts.

Where it's kept

  • On your phone: everything is stored on your phone first.
  • Your backup: if you have an account, your data is also backed up so it comes back on a new phone.
    • The backup is held by our database provider, Supabase, on servers in London.
    • Each person's data is locked so that only their own account can read it.
  • Your sign-in: the app keeps you signed in using secure storage on your phone.

AI meal logging

When you snap a photo of a meal or type what you ate and ask the AI to work it out:

  • The photo or text is sent securely to an AI service. Its only job is to identify the food and estimate the amounts.
  • The nutrition numbers come from the USDA FoodData Central database. Only plain food names (like "chicken breast") are sent to it, never your photo or anything about you.
  • Your photos are never stored. They're used once to work out the meal, then discarded. We have no access to them.
  • The AI provider may process data outside the UK. When that happens, it's protected by the UK's approved safeguards for international transfers. The provider does not use your photos or descriptions to train its models.

The built-in food basics, search and Quick add work entirely on your phone and send nothing anywhere.

Reminders

Reminders (your evening nudge, workout days, vitamins and weekly weigh-in) are scheduled on your phone itself. We don't send them from a server, and you can turn each one off in the app or in your iPhone settings.

Subscriptions

Fuelnauts Premium is bought through Apple. Apple handles the payment, so we never see your card details. We only receive whether your subscription is active, so we can switch Premium features on.

What we don't do

  • No adverts and no advertising trackers.
  • No selling or renting your data.
  • No third-party analytics or tracking across other apps or websites.
  • No one at Wheal Pixel Studios looks through your meals, photos or workouts.

How long we keep it

  • While you use the app: we keep your data for as long as you have an account.
  • If you delete your account: everything goes straight away, and it's cleared from our backups within 30 days.
  • If you stop using the app without deleting it: after 2 years of no sign-ins, we'll delete the account and its data.

Your choices and rights

  • Export your data: in the app, go to Me › Privacy and your data › Export my data for a copy of everything you've logged.
  • Delete your account: go to Me › Privacy and your data › Delete my account. This removes your account, your backup and everything on your phone. If you pay for Premium, cancel the subscription in your iPhone's Settings too, as Apple manages it.
  • Disconnect Apple Health: go to your iPhone's Settings › Health › Data Access & Devices › Fuelnauts.
  • Correct your details: you can change your details any time in the Me tab.
  • Your other rights: you can also ask us to access, correct, restrict or delete your data, or object to how we use it, by emailing [email protected]. We'll reply within one month.

Children

Fuelnauts is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has made an account, email us and we'll delete it.

Changes

If we change how Fuelnauts uses your data, we'll update this section and the date at the top. We'll tell you in the app if the change is significant.
